Ingredients

Dough and Sauce
  • 1 pound pizza dough Store bought is totally fine
  • 2 to 3 cups marinara or pizza sauce Thicker sauce is better
Filling Ingredients
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella Plus a little extra for the top
  • 1 cup cooked sausage or pepperoni Or both
  • 1 to 2 cups veggies like mushrooms, peppers, onions, olives
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning Optional: a sprinkle of parmesan and red pepper flakes

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400 F.
  2. Lightly oil your baking dish.
  3. Mix sauce, seasonings, meat, and veggies in a bowl. If using raw veggies, sauté them for 3 to 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in about half of the mozzarella to make the filling creamy and melty.
Assembly
  1. Pour the filling into the dish and level it out.
  2. Stretch the dough and lay it over the top, pinching the edges to secure.
  3. Cut two or three small slits on top for steam to escape.
  4. Add a little mozzarella on top.
Baking
  1. Bake for about 20 to 30 minutes until the top is deeply golden and the filling is bubbling.
  2. Let it rest for 10 minutes before scooping it out.

Notes

You can customize toppings based on your preference. For best results, use a thicker sauce and do not overload with wet veggies. Let it rest after baking to prevent it from being too runny.
