Ingredients
  

For the mousse
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream, cold Keep the cream cold for better whipping.
  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped Dark chocolate can also be used.
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar Or honey, depending on desired sweetness.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Optional for a warmer chocolate flavor.
  • 1 pinch salt Enhances chocolate flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Melt the chopped chocolate and let it cool slightly.
  2. Whip the cold heavy cream until it holds soft peaks, optionally adding powdered sugar and vanilla.
  3. Stir a small scoop of whipped cream into the melted chocolate to lighten it.
  4. Gently fold the chocolate mixture back into the remaining whipped cream until smooth and fluffy.
  5. Spoon the mousse into cups and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.

Notes

For added flavor variations, try mocha (add espresso powder), orange (add zest), or peanut butter swirl. For stabilized mousse, you can incorporate melted gelatin.
