For the Cream Layer
  • 1 box vanilla instant pudding mix Use according to package instructions for required milk.
  • 1 brick cream cheese, softened Let cream cheese soften to room temperature for easier mixing.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar Use to sweeten the cream cheese layer.
  • 1 cup whipped topping Or substitute with homemade whipped cream.
For the Cake Layer
  • 4 cups prepared angel food cake or pound cake, cut into cubes Use store-bought for convenience.
For the Crunch Layer
  • 1 cup toffee bits or crushed cookies Add for extra crunch.
  • to taste chocolate syrup or caramel drizzle Drizzle on top for added sweetness.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Mix the vanilla instant pudding with cold milk as per package instructions and let it sit for a few minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar until smooth.
  3. Fold in the whipped topping to the cream cheese mixture.
Assembly
  1. Layer the cake cubes at the bottom of a large bowl.
  2. Add a layer of the cream mixture on top of the cake.
  3. Spoon the pudding mixture over the cream layer.
  4. Sprinkle the crunchy layer (toffee bits or crushed cookies) on top.
  5. Repeat the layers until the bowl is full, finishing with a layer of crunch.
  6. Chill for at least 2 hours before serving to let the flavors meld.

Notes

Customize with your favorite flavors. Avoid using warm cake, and save crunch toppings for later to keep them crispy. For a more balanced version, try adding fruit or Greek yogurt.
