Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cut cinnamon rolls into pieces and place them in a greased 9x13 baking dish.
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, salt, ground cinnamon, and maple syrup (if using).
- Pour the egg mixture over the cinnamon rolls, pressing down gently to ensure they soak up the custard.
Baking
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until puffed and golden on top.
- If the top browns too quickly, lightly cover with foil for the last few minutes.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
- Drizzle icing over the warm casserole before serving.
Notes
For best results, use slightly stale cinnamon rolls. Stale bread enhances texture. If pre-preparing, refrigerate overnight and bake in the morning.
