Ingredients

For the Brownies
  • 1 pan Brownie mix (or homemade brownies) Bake until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • 1 sheet Parchment paper To line the pan for easy removal.
For Decoration
  • 1 cup Green frosting Can use store-bought or homemade.
  • 1 cup Candy stars For the tops of the trees.
  • 1 cup Mini M&Ms or chocolates As ornaments.
  • 1 cup Rainbow or green sprinkles For texture.
  • 1 cup Crushed peppermint For a minty crunch.
  • 1 pinch Edible glitter A tiny pinch goes a long way.

Method

Preparation
  1. Bake the brownies according to package instructions or your homemade recipe until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs. Let them cool completely.
  2. Once cooled, flip the brownie slab onto a cutting board lined with parchment paper for easy handling.
  3. Trim the edges of the brownies if they are crunchy or uneven.
  4. Cut the brownie slab into long strips, then cut each strip into triangles to form trees. Use trimmed edges for small tree trunks.
  5. Chill the cut brownie triangles for 15 minutes before decorating to firm them up.
Decorating
  1. Spread green frosting over each brownie triangle to create a tree shape.
  2. Top each tree with a candy star and adorn with mini M&Ms, sprinkles, and additional toppings of choice.
  3. If desired, use melted white chocolate instead of frosting for a different look.
  4. Let the decorated trees sit for a few minutes to allow the frosting to set slightly.

Notes

You can make brownie trees ahead: bake and cut them the day before, then decorate the next day. Store in an airtight container at room temperature. You can freeze undecorated shapes and thaw before frosting.
