Ingredients
  

For the Tartlets
  • 1 block blue cheese Choose a mild variety for beginners.
  • 2 medium pears Bosc or Anjou are preferred.
  • 1 sheet puff pastry Can also use shortcrust pastry.
  • 2 tablespoons honey For drizzling before serving.
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper Optional seasoning for balance.
Optional Toppings and Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze For drizzling before serving.
  • 1/4 cup toasted nuts Such as walnuts or pecans.
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme Optional for added flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut into desired shapes.
  3. Slice the pears thinly, keeping them firm to hold shape.
  4. Crumble the blue cheese into small pieces.
Assembly
  1. Place the pastry on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  2. Arrange the pear slices evenly on top of the pastry.
  3. Sprinkle the crumbled blue cheese over the pears.
  4. Chill the assembled pastry in the fridge for 10 minutes.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until pastry is golden and puffed.
  2. Remove from oven and drizzle with honey and optional balsamic glaze.
Serving
  1. Serve warm or at room temperature with a simple arugula salad.
  2. Add toasted nuts on the side for crunch.

Notes

Chill the pastry before baking for the best texture. Adjust pear ripeness based on desired softness. These tartlets can also be prepared mini or full-size.
