Big Mac Salad in a Jar

Ingredients
  

Salad Base
  • 1 lb Ground beef Or ground turkey for a lighter option.
  • 4 cups Iceberg lettuce, shredded Also can use romaine.
  • 1 cup Dill pickles, sliced Chips or chopped spears.
  • 1 cup Shredded cheddar cheese American cheese can be used for closer flavor.
  • 1 medium Red onion, diced White or green onion can be substituted.
  • 1 cup Cherry tomatoes, halved A fresh addition not traditionally included.
  • Sesame seeds, optional Provides a burger bun hint.
  • 1 cup Croutons or crushed bun chips, optional These add a bun-like feel.
Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup Ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Mustard
  • 1/4 cup Pickle relish or finely chopped pickles
  • 1 tbsp Vinegar or pickle juice A splash for tang.
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp Onion powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Brown the ground beef in a pan, breaking it into small pieces. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Drain excess grease and let it cool.
  2. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle relish, a splash of vinegar, garlic powder, and onion powder. Adjust to taste.
Layering
  1. In a wide-mouth jar, layer the ingredients starting with a few spoonfuls of sauce at the bottom.
  2. Add pickles, onions, and tomatoes next.
  3. Then layer the shredded cheese over the beef.
  4. Top with shredded iceberg lettuce.
  5. Optionally, add sesame seeds and croutons on top.
Serving
  1. When ready to eat, shake the jar to mix or pour into a bowl. Enjoy fresh!

Notes

Cool the beef before layering to prevent wilting the lettuce. Store in the fridge for 3-4 days for best freshness.
