Ingredients
  

For the Cake
  • 1 box white or vanilla cake mix Plus the eggs, oil, and water listed on the box.
For the Filling
  • 1 small box strawberry or raspberry gelatin mix Alternatively, use cheesecake pudding for a creamy vibe.
  • 1 cup boiling water To dissolve the gelatin.
  • 1 cup cold water To mix with the gelatin.
For the Topping
  • 1 tub whipped topping Or use homemade whipped cream.
Optional Decorations
  • a few drops pink or red food coloring For coloring the whipped topping.
  • to taste heart sprinkles For decoration.
  • to taste fresh strawberries For decoration.
  • to taste chocolate curls For decoration.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Bake the cake according to the package instructions and let cool in a greased 9 by 13 pan for about 15 to 20 minutes.
  2. Use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the cake, about 1 inch apart.
  3. In a bowl, whisk the gelatin with the boiling water until fully dissolved, then stir in the cold water. Let it sit to cool slightly.
  4. Slowly pour the gelatin mixture over the cake, allowing it to soak into the holes.
  5. Cover the pan and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, preferably overnight.
Finishing Touches
  1. Spread the whipped topping over the chilled cake. If desired, mix a little food coloring into the topping.
  2. Decorate with heart sprinkles, sliced strawberries, or chocolate curls.

Notes

For clean slices, use a sharp knife and wipe it off between cuts. The cake can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days.
