Ingredients
  

Nougat Ingredients
  • 4 cups mini marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter For greasing the pan and melting
  • 2 tablespoons honey Can substitute with light corn syrup
  • 1 cup finely crushed freeze dried strawberries
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt Optional, for flavor enhancement
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips To be melted into the nougat
  • 1 cup crispy rice cereal or shortbread cookie crumbs Optional for added texture
Coating Ingredients
  • 14 to 16 ounces milk or dark chocolate For coating the bars

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Line an 8-inch square pan with parchment paper and lightly butter it.
  2. In a pot over low heat, melt the butter, honey, and marshmallows while stirring until smooth.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the white chocolate chips until melted.
  4. Add vanilla, salt, and crushed freeze dried strawberries to the mixture.
  5. If using, fold in crispy rice cereal or shortbread cookie crumbs.
  6. Press the nougat mixture into the prepared pan and chill for 30 minutes.
Coating
  1. Once set, cut the nougat into bars.
  2. Dip each bar in melted chocolate and allow them to set on parchment.

Notes

For a firmer bite, chill the cut bars longer before dipping. Keep melted chocolate warm and thin with neutral oil if needed.
