Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter, softened Not melted, aim for butter that dents easily when pressed.
  • 3/4 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract Or almond extract for a bakery flavor.
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
Optional Toppings
  • To taste Food coloring, sprinkles, colored sugar, or melted chocolate Add for decoration or dipping.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat softened butter and sugar until creamy and lighter in color.
  3. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract (add any food coloring if desired).
  4. Add flour and salt, mixing until the dough just comes together.
Shaping and Baking
  1. Load the dough into a cookie press and press shapes directly onto an ungreased baking sheet.
  2. Add sprinkles right away so they stick to the dough.
  3. Bake for about 6 to 9 minutes until the edges are set and barely turning golden.
  4. Let cool on the baking sheet for a couple of minutes, then transfer to a rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for 5 to 7 days. They can also be frozen for 2 to 3 months. If dipping in chocolate, let set fully before stacking.
