Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 bag frozen edamame in the pod, around 12 to 16 ounces
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons oil (olive, avocado, or sesame)
  • 3 to 5 cloves garlic, minced or finely grated
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes Add more if you like it hot.
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons soy sauce Go easy on the salt.
  • 1 pinch salt Season your taste.
  • 1 squeeze lime (optional) For a bright finish.
  • 1 splash rice vinegar (optional)
  • 1 tiny bit honey (optional)

Method

Preparation
  1. Cook the edamame according to the package instructions, usually boiling for about 4 to 5 minutes, then drain well.
Cooking
  1. Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and chili flakes and stir for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant.
  2. Add the drained edamame to the skillet and toss. Let it sizzle for 1 to 2 minutes for flavor absorption.
  3. Drizzle in the soy sauce and toss again. Taste and adjust salt and heat as desired.
  4. Finish with lime or vinegar if you want a bright pop.

Notes

For best results, dry the edamame after draining to ensure the seasoning sticks, and be sure to keep garlic moving in the pan to prevent burning. Use a large bowl for tossing if the skillet becomes crowded.
