Ingredients

Turkey Wings
  • 4 pieces Turkey wings Choose evenly sized pieces for consistent cooking.
Gravy Ingredients
  • 1 cup Chicken broth Use low-sodium broth for controlled saltiness.
  • 1 medium Onion, chopped Adjust amount based on preference for onion flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons Flour Can use for thickening the gravy.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Adjust to taste.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper Freshly ground preferred for best flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Wash and pat dry the turkey wings.
  3. Season the wings with salt and pepper.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, heat some oil over medium heat. Brown the turkey wings on all sides.
  2. Remove wings and set aside. In the same skillet, sauté chopped onion until translucent.
  3. Sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir to combine, cooking for a minute.
  4. Gradually add chicken broth, stirring to avoid lumps, and let it thicken.
  5. Return the turkey wings to the skillet and ensure they are well coated with the gravy.
  6. Cover the skillet and transfer it to the preheated oven. Cook for 1 hour, turning the wings halfway through.
Finishing
  1. Once cooked, remove the wings from the oven and check for doneness, ensuring they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  2. Serve the wings with gravy over rice or mashed potatoes.

Notes

For best results, allow the turkey wings to rest after cooking to retain moisture. Gravy may be adjusted with additional broth for desired consistency. Ideal when served with classic Southern sides like collard greens or cornbread.
