Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Melt the butter in an 8x8 or 9x9 inch baking dish in the oven.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Stir in the milk and vanilla extract until combined.
Baking
- Pour the batter over the melted butter in the baking dish without stirring.
- Sprinkle sugar, cocoa powder, and hot water over the top of the batter without stirring.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes until the edges are set but the middle remains slightly jiggly.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve warm directly from the dish. It's great with vanilla ice cream and can be reheated easily. This dessert is best enjoyed fresh but can be made ahead by prepping dry ingredients.
