Snickers Cake

A rich and moist cake layers filled with homemade peanut caramel and soft chocolate peanut butter nougat, topped with a luscious chocolate frosting.

Ingredients
  

For the Cake Layers
  • 2 cups All purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Baking powder
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1/2 cup Oil
  • 1 cup Buttermilk (or milk with a splash of vinegar)
  • 1 cup Hot coffee or hot water
  • 1/2 cup Sour cream or plain yogurt (optional)
For the Peanut Caramel Filling
  • 1 cup Caramel sauce Store-bought or homemade
  • 1/2 cup Salted roasted peanuts
For the Soft Chocolate Peanut Butter Nougat Filling
  • 1 cup Chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup Peanut butter
  • 1 cup Marshmallow creme or whipped mixture
For the Frosting
  • 1 cup Chocolate frosting

Method
 

Baking the Cake Layers
  1. Preheat the oven and prepare baking pans by lining them.
  2. Mix all dry and wet ingredients to make the cake batter.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake for 30 minutes.
  4. Check doneness with a toothpick; let the layers cool completely.
Preparing Fillings
  1. For peanut caramel, warm the caramel sauce, stir in peanuts, and set aside.
  2. Melt chocolate and peanut butter together and fold into marshmallow creme to create the nougat.
  3. Allow fillings to cool to room temperature.
Assembling the Cake
  1. Level the cake layers if necessary.
  2. Place first layer on a cake stand and pipe a frosting dam around the edge.
  3. Spread peanut caramel filling evenly, followed by chocolate peanut butter nougat filling.
  4. Add the next cake layer and repeat filling process.
  5. Finish with the final layer, apply a thin crumb coat of frosting, and chill for 20-30 minutes.
Decorating the Cake
  1. Frost the cake with chocolate frosting and add a caramel drip.
  2. Top with chopped peanuts and candy pieces as desired.

Notes

Cool the fillings to room temperature before assembling. You can make Snickers Cake ahead of time; it tastes better the next day.
