Ingredients
  

Core Ingredients
  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined, tails off Fresh or frozen, thawed in cold water.
  • 8 pieces tortillas, corn or flour Corn for classic flavor, flour for softness.
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1 tbsp chili powder Adjust for spice level.
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 piece lime Juiced for cooking and wedges for serving.
Sauce Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt or mayo For a creamy lime sauce.
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • to taste hot sauce Optional for extra heat.
Topping Ideas
  • 2 cups crunchy cabbage slaw With lime and salt.
  • 1 piece diced avocado Or quick guacamole.
  • 1 cup pico de gallo or chopped tomatoes with onion
  • 1/2 cup pickled red onions
  • 1/4 cup cotija or feta cheese
  • to taste jalapenos If you like a kick.
  • 1 cup cilantro Optional, for garnish.
  • extra wedges lime For serving.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels to ensure they sear instead of steaming.
  2. Toss shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat a skillet over high heat until it's hot.
  4. Add shrimp in one layer and cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side, until pink and opaque.
  5. Squeeze fresh lime over the shrimp at the end of cooking.
  6. Warm the tortillas in a dry pan for a few seconds on each side.
Assembly
  1. Assemble tacos with shrimp, slaw, sauce, and your favorite toppings.

Notes

Don't crowd the pan while cooking shrimp to avoid steaming. Experiment with toppings and sauces to make the tacos your own.
