Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil and add parchment paper on top for easier cleanup.
- Lay out the Ritz crackers in a single layer, trying not to leave gaps.
Cooking
- In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar together over medium heat. Stir until smooth and combined, then let it gently bubble for about 2 to 3 minutes until thick and glossy.
- Carefully pour the hot mixture over the crackers, using a spatula to spread it so most crackers are coated.
- Bake for about 7 to 9 minutes, watching carefully for bubbly edges.
- Pull the pan out and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Let them sit for about 2 minutes to melt, then spread out into an even layer.
- Add any desired toppings and chill in the fridge until firm. Break into pieces with your hands.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 4 to 5 days, or in the fridge for 1 to 2 weeks. Freezing is also an option, thaw in the fridge.
