Method
Brew the Tea
- Bring water to a boil and remove from heat.
- Add butterfly pea flowers and steep for 5 to 8 minutes.
- Strain the tea and sweeten while warm, then chill in the refrigerator.
Make the Lemonade
- In a pitcher, combine lemon juice, cold water, and sweetener.
- Taste and adjust the sweetness based on the lemons used.
Serve
- Fill a glass with ice.
- Pour in the chilled butterfly pea tea and slowly add the lemonade.
- Watch the color change from blue to purple.
Notes
For a fun serving experience, make a pitcher of tea and a separate pitcher of lemonade for guests to pour themselves. If the color is dull, steep the tea longer next time. If it's pink, the lemonade may be too acidic; try adjusting lemon juice.
