Preparation
- Slice the red onion into thin half moons. Put them in a clean jar or a heat-safe bowl.
- In a measuring cup or small pot, mix the vinegar, warm water, sugar, and salt. Stir until the salt and sugar dissolve.
- Pour the liquid over the onions. Press the onions down to ensure they are mostly submerged.
- Let it sit at room temperature for about 20 to 30 minutes, then cover and move to the fridge.
Notes
Pickled red onions can last about 2 to 3 weeks when kept in the fridge. Use clean utensils to ensure longevity and check for freshness before use.
