Ingredients
  

Cake Layer
  • 1 lb Pound cake or vanilla sponge cake, cubed Stale or day-old cake preferred.
Peach Layer
  • 4 cups Fresh peaches, sliced or canned peaches, drained Use fresh peaches in season, or canned peaches for convenience.
Cream Layer
  • 2 cups Whipped cream or Cool Whip For stability, consider mixing Cool Whip with whipped cream.
  • 1 pkg Instant pudding mix (optional) Adds extra creaminess.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Cube the day-old pound cake or sponge cake.
  2. If using fresh peaches, slice them; if using canned, drain and pat dry.
Layering
  1. In a trifle bowl, begin with a layer of cake cubes at the bottom.
  2. Add an even layer of peaches over the cake.
  3. Spread a layer of whipped cream or pudding over the peaches.
  4. Repeat the layers until the bowl is full, finishing with a cream layer on top.
  5. Gently press the layers to eliminate gaps.
Chill and Serve
  1. Cover and refrigerate the trifle for 4 to 12 hours before serving to enhance flavors.
  2. Gently serve with a large spoon and enjoy each layer.

Notes

Trifle can be made a day ahead, but avoid over-soaking the cake. For individual servings, layer in cups and chill. Other variations include strawberries or mango instead of peaches.
