Ingredients
  

For the Trifle
  • 1 loaf store-bought pound cake or angel food cake Cut into one-inch cubes for layering.
  • 4 cups fresh peaches, chopped Leave the skins on for color or peel if preferred.
  • 2 cups heavy cream Whipped with sugar and vanilla.
  • 0.5 cups granulated sugar For whipping cream.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For added flavor in the whipped cream.
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract Optional, for extra flavor in whipped cream.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream with sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  2. Layer the trifle by placing a layer of cake cubes in the bottom of a glass bowl.
  3. Add a layer of chopped peaches over the cake.
  4. Spread a layer of whipped cream over the peaches.
  5. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with whipped cream on top.
  6. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.

Notes

Try using canned peaches if fresh ones are unavailable. Individual servings can be made in mini dessert jars. This dessert can also be made ahead of time and improves in flavor after chilling.
