  • 1 ripe peach 1 ripe peach, sliced Fresh is best; if using frozen, thaw and drain.
  • 6-8 leaves 6 to 8 mint leaves Fresh mint adds a cool vibe; basil can substitute.
  • 3/4 ounce 3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice Fresh juice is recommended.
  • 1/2 ounce 1/2 ounce simple syrup or honey syrup Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 2 ounces 2 ounces bourbon Choose a mid-range bourbon, 80-90 proof.
  • 1 cup Ice Crushed ice or regular cubes are both suitable.
  • 1 splash Splash of club soda (optional) Use if you prefer a lighter drink.

Preparation
  1. Add peach slices to a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker with mint leaves and lemon juice.
  2. Add simple syrup and muddle until the peach is juicy and mint is fragrant.
  3. Add bourbon and ice, then shake or stir well.
  4. Strain into a glass over fresh ice or pour all contents for a rustic touch.
  5. Garnish with a slice of peach and a sprig of mint.

Notes

For a batch, muddle peaches, lemon, and sweetener in a bowl ahead of serving. Just add bourbon and ice before serving.
