Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 4 to 6 pieces ripe passionfruits, pulp scooped (strained or not, your choice) Pick heavy and slightly wrinkled fruits for sweeter taste.
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 5 to 7 lemons) Freshly squeezed is best for flavor.
  • 1 cup sugar or honey (start with 3/4 cup and adjust) Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 4 cups cold water Use cold water to keep the punch refreshing.
  • 3 to 4 cups sparkling water or lemon lime soda (add right before serving) Use sparkling water for less sweetness or soda for a sweeter punch.
  • as needed cups Ice, lots of it To cool the punch before serving.
  • as needed pieces Optional: lemon slices, mint, and extra passionfruit pulp for the top For garnish and extra flavor.

Method

Preparation of the Sweet Base
  1. In a small bowl or measuring cup, mix the sugar with 1 cup of warm water until it dissolves. If using honey, it dissolves even easier.
Combine Ingredients
  1. In a big pitcher, combine lemon juice, passionfruit pulp, the sweet base, and the remaining cold water.
  2. Stir and taste the mixture; it should be a bit stronger than you want as the sparkling water will dilute it.
Final Touches
  1. Add ice and pour in the sparkling water right before serving, then stir gently to retain the fizz.
Serving Suggestions
  1. Keep extra lemon juice and sweetener nearby for guests to adjust their drinks to their taste.

Notes

Tips: Chill all ingredients beforehand to prolong fizz, add bubbles last to avoid flattening, and use a big ice block instead of small cubes for a slower melt.
