Ingredients

For the cake
  • 1 box vanilla or white cake mix You can use a boxed cake mix.
For the filling
  • 1 package orange gelatin or orange flavored pudding mix Gelatin provides a brighter flavor, while pudding leans creamier.
  • 1 cup water For mixing with the gelatin.
  • 1 cup orange juice Do not add too much, or it may make the cake soggy.
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest Fresh zest enhances flavor without affecting texture.
For the topping
  • 1 container whipped topping Do not overmix to prevent it from getting runny.
  • 1 package vanilla pudding mix For a creamy topping that complements the orange flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven according to the cake mix instructions. Prepare the cake batter and bake in a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. Allow the cake to cool for 15-20 minutes before poking holes using the handle of a wooden spoon.
  3. Mix the orange gelatin or pudding with water and orange juice. Pour this mixture evenly over the poked cake, ensuring it flows into the holes.
  4. Let the cake sit for about 4 hours or overnight in the fridge to chill and set.
Topping
  1. Prepare the vanilla pudding mix according to package instructions and fold it into the whipped topping.
  2. Spread the creamy topping evenly over the chilled cake.
  3. Add extra orange zest on top for garnish if desired.

Notes
