Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chopped mixed fruit and nuts.
Baking
  1. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are set but centers look a bit underdone.
  3. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container. To keep them soft, store with a slice of bread or use parchment paper between layers in a freezer container. They can be frozen either as dough or baked cookies.
