Ingredients

Trifle Ingredients
  • 24 cookies Nutter Butter cookies, plus extra for topping
  • 8 oz Cream cheese, softened Ensure it's softened for easy mixing.
  • 1/2 cup Peanut butter, creamy Use your favorite brand.
  • 1/2 cup Powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract Adds bakery vibes.
  • 8 oz Whipped topping or homemade whipped cream
  • 1 package Instant vanilla pudding mix (optional) Adds structure.
  • 1 cup Milk (if using pudding) Use to mix with the pudding.
  • 1/2 cup Chocolate chips or chocolate syrup (optional)

Method

Preparation
  1. Crush the Nutter Butter cookies into a mix of crumbs and bigger chunks.
  2. In a bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Mix in the peanut butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
  3. Fold in the whipped topping gently to keep the mixture fluffy. If using pudding, whisk the pudding mix with milk first, then fold it into the cream cheese mixture.
  4. Start layering the trifle: add a layer of crushed cookies, followed by a layer of the creamy filling. Repeat until ingredients are used up, aiming for three layers.
  5. Top with crushed cookies and optionally add chocolate chips or a drizzle of chocolate syrup.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 to 4 hours; overnight is ideal.

Notes

Feel free to get creative with substitutions; peanut butter sandwich cookies can be used instead of Nutter Butters. This dessert is forgiving, so adjust ingredients to taste.
