  • 1 cup whole milk Whole milk is best, but any milk works.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Adds a nice bakery smell.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Optional, but commonly added.
  • 1 pinch salt Enhances sweet flavors.
  • 2 tablespoons butter For cooking in the pan.

Method

Preparation
  1. Spread Nutella on one side of half the bread slices to create sandwiches.
  2. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
Cooking
  1. Dip each sandwich in the egg mixture for a few seconds on each side.
  2. Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Cook each sandwich for 3 to 4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  4. Let the cooked sandwiches rest on a plate for a minute before slicing.

Notes

Serve with powdered sugar, syrup, fresh berries, or yogurt. Keep the heat at medium to avoid burning and ensure the filling stays gooey. For variations, consider banana or strawberry fillings or topping with hazelnuts.
