Ingredients

For the truffles
  • 1 package Oreo cookies (regular, not double stuffed)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Make sure the cream cheese is at room temperature.
  • 12 to 16 oz melting chocolate or chocolate chips (white, milk, or dark) Choose your preferred chocolate for dipping.
  • to taste pink gel food coloring Optional for tinting white chocolate.
  • to taste sprinkles, crushed Oreos, sanding sugar, or drizzle chocolate Optional toppings for decoration.

Method

Preparation
  1. Crush the Oreos into fine crumbs until they are smooth.
  2. Mix the Oreo crumbs with softened cream cheese until the mixture is thick and uniform.
  3. Scoop and roll the mixture into balls of about 1 tablespoon each and place them on a parchment-lined tray.
  4. Chill the rolled balls in the refrigerator for 20 to 30 minutes to firm them up.
Dipping and Decorating
  1. Melt your chocolate in the microwave in short bursts, stirring often.
  2. Dip each truffle into the melted chocolate, allowing excess to drip off before placing them back on the parchment.
  3. Decorate the truffles while the chocolate coating is still wet, then let them set.

Notes

For best results, use softened cream cheese. Chill the truffles before dipping to prevent them from falling apart in the warm chocolate. You can experiment with different Oreo flavors for variety.
