Ingredients
  

Crust
  • 2 cups Crushed pretzels Use finely crushed pretzels for the crust.
  • 1/2 cup Melted butter Ensure the butter is not too hot when mixing.
  • 1/4 cup Sugar Sugar for the crust.
Cream Layer
  • 8 oz Cream cheese, softened Make sure cream cheese is at room temperature for easier mixing.
  • 1/2 cup Sugar Sugar for the cream layer.
  • 8 oz Whipped topping Can use homemade whipped cream.
Lemon Layer
  • 1 pkg Lemon flavored gelatin mix Instant lemon flavored gelatin mix.
  • 1 cup Boiling water Required for dissolving gelatin.
  • 1 cup Cold water Add after dissolving gelatin.

Method
 

Make the crust
  1. Mix crushed pretzels with melted butter and a little sugar, then press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9x13 inch dish.
  2. Bake briefly for about 10 minutes, then let it cool completely.
Mix the creamy layer
  1. Beat softened cream cheese with sugar until smooth.
  2. Fold in the whipped topping and spread over the cooled crust, sealing the edges.
Make the lemon layer
  1. Stir the lemon gelatin mix into boiling water until fully dissolved.
  2. Add cold water and allow it to cool slightly before gently pouring it over the cream layer.
Chill
  1. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight until fully set.

Notes

For the best flavor, use fresh lemon when possible. Variations include adding berries on top or mixing lemon curd into the lemon layer.
