  • 4 pieces classic beef hot dogs Turkey hot dogs are also acceptable.
  • 2 pieces Italian sandwich rolls Cut in half.
  • 1 large onion Sliced.
  • 1 large green bell pepper Sliced.
  • 2 pieces russet potatoes Sliced thin.
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • as needed tablespoons vegetable oil For frying.
  • to taste mustard Spicy brown is recommended.

Preparation
  1. Slice the potatoes into rounds and toss them in hot oil until golden and crispy, then drain on paper towels.
  2. In another pan, add a bit of oil, then sauté the sliced onions and bell peppers until soft.
Cooking hot dogs
  1. Cook hot dogs as desired—boil, grill, or pan-fry.
Assembly
  1. Toast the Italian rolls lightly in the oven.
  2. Place a hot dog or two on each bun and top with sautéed onions, peppers, and crispy potato rounds.
  3. Finish with a squirt of mustard and enjoy, preferably standing over the kitchen sink.

Notes

Feel free to get creative with toppings and try various types of bread. You can prep onions, peppers, and potatoes ahead of time for quicker assembly.
