Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground turkey not the ultra-lean stuff
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons chopped pickled jalapeños or fresh, if you like it bolder
  • 1/3 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 3 ounces cream cheese softened for easier spreading
  • 4 pieces burger buns brioche, pretzel, classic, etc.
Optional Toppings
  • lettuce
  • tomato
  • crispy bacon
  • thin onion slices

Method

Preparation
  1. Mix the ground turkey with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Optionally add a splash of Worcestershire sauce.
  2. Grab a golf ball size lump of the turkey mixture and flatten it in your palm.
  3. Dollop cream cheese and a sprinkle of jalapeños and cheddar in the center.
  4. Flatten another small piece of turkey and lay it over the filling, then press the edges to seal.
Cooking
  1. Grill the patties over medium heat until the inside is no longer pink, approximately 6-7 minutes per side.
  2. Let the burgers rest for a couple of minutes before serving.

Notes

To enhance flavors, use moist ground turkey and be sure to seal the patties. Consider freezing formed, uncooked patties for later use.
