Method
Preparation
- Add 2 to 3 tablespoons of oil to a large pot and drop in 3 kernels. Put the lid on.
- Turn the heat to medium. When those 3 kernels pop, your oil is ready.
- Add 1/2 cup kernels (or enough to cover the bottom in one layer), then put the lid back on.
- Shake the pot gently every 10 seconds to keep things from burning.
- When popping slows down to about 2 seconds between pops, take the pot off the heat and keep the lid on for 20 to 30 seconds.
- Pour the popcorn into a big bowl right away.
Honey Butter Preparation
- Melt 4 tablespoons butter, then stir in 2 to 3 tablespoons honey and a good pinch of salt.
- Taste and adjust the sweetness by adding more honey if desired.
- Drizzle honey butter over the popcorn while tossing gently.
- Drizzle in stages to avoid soggy pieces.
Notes
For best results, use medium heat and shake the pot gently to prevent burning. Serve immediately for maximum freshness.
