Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup Popcorn kernels Plain, not microwave bags
  • 2-3 tablespoons Neutral oil Such as avocado, canola, vegetable, or grapeseed
  • 4 tablespoons Butter Melted
  • 2-3 tablespoons Honey Adjust according to desired sweetness
  • to taste pinch Salt Fine salt sticks best

Method

Preparation
  1. Add 2 to 3 tablespoons of oil to a large pot and drop in 3 kernels. Put the lid on.
  2. Turn the heat to medium. When those 3 kernels pop, your oil is ready.
  3. Add 1/2 cup kernels (or enough to cover the bottom in one layer), then put the lid back on.
  4. Shake the pot gently every 10 seconds to keep things from burning.
  5. When popping slows down to about 2 seconds between pops, take the pot off the heat and keep the lid on for 20 to 30 seconds.
  6. Pour the popcorn into a big bowl right away.
Honey Butter Preparation
  1. Melt 4 tablespoons butter, then stir in 2 to 3 tablespoons honey and a good pinch of salt.
  2. Taste and adjust the sweetness by adding more honey if desired.
  3. Drizzle honey butter over the popcorn while tossing gently.
  4. Drizzle in stages to avoid soggy pieces.

Notes

For best results, use medium heat and shake the pot gently to prevent burning. Serve immediately for maximum freshness.
