Ingredients

For the cream soda
  • 1 cup very cold sparkling water or club soda Ensure it's chilled for the best experience.
  • 2-3 teaspoons sugar (or simple syrup) Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 1/4-1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract Start small and add more as desired.
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice (optional) Brightens the flavor.
  • 1-2 tablespoons half and half or milk (optional) For a creamy finish.
  • Ice For serving.

Method

Preparation
  1. Add sugar and vanilla to the bottom of a glass.
  2. If using sugar instead of syrup, add a tiny splash of warm water to help it dissolve.
  3. Fill the glass with ice.
  4. Pour in the sparkling water slowly to avoid foaming over.
  5. Give it one gentle stir and add milk or half and half if desired.

Notes

For a smoother drink, use simple syrup instead of granulated sugar. You can prep the vanilla syrup base ahead of time, but add sparkling water right before serving to keep it fizzy.
