For the Hojicha Latte
  • 1.5 teaspoons Hojicha powder Finely milled powder for lattes.
  • 2 tablespoons Hot water Not boiling, just hot.
  • 1 cup Milk Dairy or non-dairy options are both great.
  • 1 teaspoon Sweetener Maple syrup or honey recommended for sweetness.
  • Ice For the iced version.

Method
 

Hot Hojicha Latte Preparation
  1. Warm your mug by swirling in a little hot water and then dump it.
  2. Whisk 1 to 2 teaspoons of hojicha powder with 2 tablespoons of hot water in the mug.
  3. Heat your milk until steaming, then froth it if desired. Pour it in and stir.
  4. Taste and sweeten with 1 teaspoon of maple syrup or honey if desired.
Iced Hojicha Latte Preparation
  1. Whisk 1 to 2 teaspoons of hojicha powder with 2 tablespoons of hot water.
  2. Add sweetener while the mixture is warm to dissolve easily.
  3. Fill a glass with ice and pour the hojicha mixture over the ice.
  4. Add cold milk and stir. Pour slowly for layered appearance if desired.

Notes

Common variations include vanilla, honey, brown sugar, or adding a shot of espresso for a dirty hojicha latte. Always mix hojicha with hot water first for the best taste.
