Method
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a baking dish with butter.
- Tear the croissants into bite-sized pieces and place them in the baking dish.
- Sprinkle the chopped ham and shredded Swiss cheese over the croissant pieces.
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk or half and half, Dijon mustard, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the croissant and ham mixture, pressing down gently to ensure everything is soaked.
- Cover the dish with foil and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes or overnight for best results.
Baking
- Remove the dish from the refrigerator about 15-20 minutes before baking.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, removing the foil for the last 10-15 minutes until the top is golden and the center is set.
- Let it cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven for best results. This dish is great for make-ahead brunches, and for variations, feel free to swap cheeses or add vegetables like spinach or onions.
