For the cake base
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Make sure it's completely softened for easy mixing.
  • 12 oz whipped topping (or homemade whipped cream) Fold gently into the cream cheese for best texture.
  • 2 cups milk Use cold milk for quicker pudding thickening.
  • 1 pkg instant chocolate pudding mix Make sure to whisk until thick.
For decoration
  • 1 pkg Milano cookies Any flavor works great; these will be the tombstones.
  • 1 pkg chocolate sandwich cookies Crushed to create the 'dirt.'
  • optional gummy worms, candy pumpkins, candy bones, sprinkles Use for additional cemetery decorations.

Method

Preparation
  1. Crush the chocolate sandwich cookies into fine crumbs, leaving some chunkier bits for texture.
  2. In a bowl, beat softened cream cheese until smooth, then fold in whipped topping.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the pudding mix with milk until thick, then combine with the cream cheese mixture.
  4. Spread the creamy mixture into a 9x13 dish and cover with cookie crumbs, pressing lightly.
  5. Chill in the refrigerator for two to four hours, or overnight for best results.
Decoration
  1. Insert Milano cookies into the top layer to resemble tombstones.
  2. Decorate with icing gel or melted chocolate to write 'RIP' on the cookies.
  3. Add gummy worms and candy pumpkins around for extra spooky effect.

Notes
