Brownie Base
  • 1 box boxed brownie mix Choose a fudgy brownie mix for best results.
  • 1 large egg yolk Optional for a richer flavor.
  • 1/4 cup milk Use instead of water for a richer texture.
Green Frosting
  • 2 cups vanilla buttercream frosting Tinted green using gel food coloring.
Decoration
  • 12 pieces red heart sprinkles For garnish on top.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven according to brownie mix instructions.
  2. Prepare brownie mix as directed, adding the egg yolk and milk.
  3. Pour into a greased metal pan and bake until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  4. Allow brownies to cool completely in the pan.
Frosting and Decoration
  1. Once cooled, prepare the vanilla buttercream frosting.
  2. Tint frosting with gel food coloring to achieve a bright Grinch green.
  3. Spread a layer of green frosting evenly over the cooled brownies.
  4. Garnish with red heart sprinkles on top.

Notes

These brownies can be made ahead and stored properly. For best results, do not frost until the day of serving, or keep unfrosted in the freezer for up to 2 months.
