Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a standard loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves.
- In a larger bowl, whisk the melted butter with brown sugar, then add the eggs, molasses, and milk, stirring until smooth.
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
Baking
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 45 to 55 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
- Allow to cool in the pan for 10 to 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. If glazing, wait until it's mostly cool.
Notes
This loaf tastes even better the next day, making it a great make-ahead treat. Wrap it tightly after cooling and store at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for longer storage.
