Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 1 pound pizza dough (store bought or homemade) Let it sit at room temp for 30 to 60 minutes.
Garlic Butter Topping
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted Salted butter preferred, but unsalted works too.
  • 3-5 cloves garlic, minced or grated Adjust to taste.
  • 1/3-1/2 cup Parmesan, finely grated Fresh grated melts better than powdered.
  • a small handful parsley, chopped (optional) Adds a restaurant-like finish.
  • a pinch salt Especially if using unsalted butter.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. On a lightly floured counter, stretch the dough into a rough rectangle. If it keeps shrinking, let it rest for 10 minutes.
  3. Cut the dough into about 12 strips, approximately 1 inch wide.
  4. Take one strip and tie it into a simple knot, tucking the ends underneath for a tidy appearance. Place on the baking sheet.
  5. Repeat with the remaining strips, leaving space between each knot.
Baking and Topping
  1. Bake the knots for 12 to 15 minutes, until puffed and lightly golden.
  2. Prepare the garlic butter by mixing melted butter, minced garlic, a pinch of salt, and parsley (if using).
  3. When the knots come out of the oven, brush them generously with the garlic butter and sprinkle parmesan on top while they are still hot.
  4. For extra flavor, consider adding a sprinkle of garlic powder after baking.

Notes

Serve with marinara for dipping. Great alongside pasta, salads, or as a snack while waiting for pizza. For picky eaters, consider adding parmesan to only half the knots.
