  • 1 cup All purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying Vegetable or canola oil For frying
  • Powdered sugar Powdered sugar for topping

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add milk, eggs, and vanilla. Whisk until the batter looks smooth and is thick but still pipeable, like a loose pancake batter.
  3. Heat about 2 inches of oil in a heavy pot to 350°F.
  4. Spoon the batter into a piping bag or zip top bag and snip a small corner. Carefully squeeze 4 to 6 inch lines of batter into the hot oil.
Cooking
  1. Fry for about 1 to 2 minutes per side until golden. Flip with tongs or a slotted spoon.
  2. Drain on paper towels and dust generously with powdered sugar.
