Filipino Spring Rolls

A traditional Filipino take on spring rolls, filled with a delicious mix of ground pork and vegetables and fried to perfection.

Ingredients
  

Filling
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 cup grated carrots
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
To Assemble
  • 20 pieces lumpia wrappers Look for wrappers labeled 'for frying'.
For Frying
  • Oil for frying vegetable oil Enough to submerge the lumpia.

Method
 

Prepare Filling
  1. In a large bowl, combine ground pork, chopped onion, minced garlic, grated carrots, eggs, soy sauce, and salt.
  2. Mix the filling thoroughly with your hands until well combined.
Assemble Lumpia
  1. Peel apart the lumpia wrappers carefully to avoid tearing.
  2. Place a spoonful of the filling at one end of a wrapper.
  3. Fold the sides over the filling and roll tightly to seal, using a dab of water to seal the edge.
Fry Lumpia
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Fry lumpia in hot oil until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
  3. Remove and let cool briefly before serving.

Notes

Serve with sweet chili sauce or a mix of vinegar and minced garlic for dipping. These are best served fresh and crispy, so avoid letting them sit too long.
