  • 6 large eggs Use room temperature for best results.
  • 3/4 cup milk or half and half
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar and Swiss recommended) Shred your own cheese for better melting.
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups cooked fillings (such as sautéed veggies, cooked bacon, or diced ham) Cook watery vegetables first and squeeze out moisture.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Add other seasonings if desired.
  • a few twists dash black pepper
  • Butter or oil for greasing Grease the pie dish well.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a pie dish thoroughly, paying special attention to the sides.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheese and your desired cooked fillings.
  5. Pour the mixture into the prepared pie dish.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is lightly golden.
  2. Let it rest for 10 to 15 minutes before slicing for clean pieces.

Notes

Avoid overstuffing with wet vegetables and let the quiche rest before slicing to prevent a watery center. Place the pie dish on a baking sheet to catch any spills.
