  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk The secret to that silky, stable texture.
  • 2 cups chocolate chips or chopped chocolate (semi-sweet or dark) Use good quality for balanced flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons butter Adds smoothness and a little shine.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Brings the flavor together.
  • 1 pinch salt Enhances the chocolate flavor.
Optional add-ins
  • chopped nuts, mini marshmallows, or a swirl of peanut butter Can be added for extra flavor and texture.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Line an 8-inch square pan with parchment paper, allowing for overhang.
  2. In a pot, warm the sweetened condensed milk and butter over low heat, stirring often.
  3. Once warm, remove from heat and stir in the chocolate until smooth and glossy.
  4. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  5. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours until set.
  6. Once set, lift the fudge out using the parchment overhang and cut into squares.

Notes

Store fudge at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 5 days, refrigerate for up to 2 weeks, or freeze for up to 2 months. For softer texture, use additional butter or mix in a few milk chocolate chips.
