  • 4-5 pounds Apples, any mix of sweet and tart No peeling needed.
  • 1 cup Brown sugar For deeper, caramel vibe.
  • 2 teaspoons Cinnamon For warm and cozy flavor.

  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Adds warmth, especially for holiday versions.

Preparation
  1. Wash the apples well. Cut into quarters, removing cores and bruised spots. Skins can be left on.
Cooking
  1. Load the slow cooker with apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Stir well.
  2. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours or HIGH for 4 to 5 hours.
  3. When apples are super soft, mash with a spoon or potato masher. Use an immersion blender for a smoother texture if desired.
  4. Remove the lid and cook on LOW for an additional 1 to 2 hours until thick and spreadable.
  5. Let the apple butter cool before transferring it to jars.

Notes

Store in the fridge for 2 to 3 weeks or freeze for longer storage. Can be served on toast, pancakes, yogurt, or as a filling for sandwiches.
