Ingredients
  

For the Cookie Dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Room temperature for easy mixing.
  • 2 cups granulated sugar For sweetness.
  • 2 large eggs At room temperature.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour For structure.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder For leavening.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda For additional leavening.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Balances sweetness.
For the Pink Frosting
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar Add in rounds to avoid mess.
  • 2 tablespoons milk or cream To achieve a spreadable consistency.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 drop almond extract Use sparingly for flavor.
  • 2 drops gel food coloring For the pink color.
For Decoration
  • to taste various holiday sprinkles Use red, green, white, or other festive colors.

Method
 

Making the Cookie Dough
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Add the granulated sugar and mix until well combined.
  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  7. Scoop big dough balls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, making sure to space them out.
Baking the Cookies
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are set and centers are slightly pale.
  2. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely on a wire rack.
Making the Pink Frosting
  1. In a bowl, beat the softened butter until smooth and fluffy.
  2. Gradually add powdered sugar in batches to avoid spills.
  3. Add milk or cream until the frosting is spreadable, then mix in vanilla and almond extracts.
  4. Add food coloring and mix until the desired pink color is achieved.
Decorating the Cookies
  1. Spread the pink frosting generously on the cooled cookies.
  2. Top with your choice of holiday sprinkles.

Notes

Cookies can be frozen unfrosted for up to 2 months. Decorate after thawing for best results.
