- In a skillet, cook the ground beef with diced onion until it is no longer pink. Drain excess grease.
- Stir in salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika for extra flavor.
- In a bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and shredded cheddar. Add a splash of milk if necessary but do not overdo it.
- Spray the crock pot insert, then layer the ground beef, creamy mixture, and finally the frozen tater tots.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 4 to 5 hours. Avoid lifting the lid during cooking.
- For a crispier top, add more cheese and vent the lid for the last 20 minutes, or broil if the insert is oven-safe.
