Preparation
- If your rice is cold, break it up gently with a spoon. Mix in rice vinegar, sugar, and salt to taste.
- Preheat your waffle maker and oil both sides with a thin layer of neutral oil.
- Add 3/4 to 1 cup of rice to the waffle maker and spread it evenly. Press it down gently.
- Close the lid and cook until deeply golden, usually around 7 to 10 minutes.
- Carefully lift out the waffle and let it cool for 1 to 2 minutes before adding toppings.
Serving
- Top the waffles with your choice of toppings, and serve immediately. Consider serving with dipping sauces like soy sauce or a spicy mayo.
Notes
The first waffle is a tester. Adjust cook time to your waffle maker for perfect crispiness. Pack rice firmly to prevent crumbling. Best served fresh, but can be reheated.
