Ingredients
  

For the Peanut Butter Filling
  • 1 cup Creamy peanut butter Shelf stable works best
  • 2 tablespoons Butter Softened, not melted
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar To firm the filling
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract Optional for flavor enhancement
  • 1 pinch Salt Optional to enhance flavor
For the Chocolate Coating
  • 1 cup Chocolate melting wafers or chocolate chips For dipping
  • 1 teaspoon Coconut oil or shortening Optional, helps chocolate dip smoother

Method
 

Preparation of the Filling
  1. Beat peanut butter and butter together until smooth.
  2. Gradually mix in powdered sugar until you get a soft dough that holds its shape.
  3. Chill the mixture before shaping to avoid mess.
Shaping the Hearts
  1. Roll the peanut butter dough into small balls, then flatten into thick ovals.
  2. Pinch the top center to create a heart dip, and pinch the bottom to make a point.
  3. Chill the shaped pieces for at least 30 to 45 minutes.
Dipping in Chocolate
  1. Melt chocolate slowly, using microwave or double boiler method.
  2. Dip each chilled heart using a fork and shake off excess chocolate.
  3. Sprinkle with flaky salt or drizzle with more chocolate if desired.
  4. Let chocolate set in the fridge for 20 to 30 minutes before storing.

Notes

Best stored in an airtight container for up to 10 days in the fridge. Can be frozen for 2-3 months.
