  • 1 box box of crackers (around 9 to 12 ounces) Usually oyster or mini butter crackers
  • 1 packet dry ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 to 2 cups finely shredded cheddar cheese (or a cheddar blend)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill Optional but adds nice flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder Optional
  • 1/3 to 1/2 cup melted butter or olive oil Butter gives the best flavor

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 250°F.
  2. In a large bowl, add the crackers.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the ranch seasoning, garlic powder, and any optional seasonings like dill or onion powder.
  4. Drizzle melted butter over the crackers and toss gently to coat.
  5. Sprinkle the seasoning mix over the crackers and toss again.
  6. Add the shredded cheese and toss once more until well combined.
  7. Spread the mixture on a baking sheet in a single layer.
  8. Bake for 15 minutes, stir, then bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes, or until the crackers are dry and crisp.
  9. Allow to cool completely to achieve maximum crunch.

Notes

These crackers can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container. Serve with dips or use as a crunchy addition to soups.
