  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp Baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup Cold butter Grated for easier incorporation
  • 3/4 cup Milk or buttermilk Buttermilk preferred for tang
Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup Sharp cheddar cheese, shredded Freshly shredded recommended for best flavor
  • 1/4 cup Fresh chives, chopped Adjust to taste if chives are strong

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the cheddar cheese and chives until they are coated in the flour mixture.
  5. Pour in the milk or buttermilk and stir gently until just combined.
  6. Scoop the dough into rustic mounds on the prepared baking sheet.
Baking
  1. Bake for 15 minutes, until the biscuits are tall, golden, and crispy on the edges.
  2. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle a pinch of salt on top before serving.

For a cozy pairing, serve with soup or as a snack. Freezing leftovers is also a good option; toast from frozen for a quick treat.
