Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pack Carbonara Buldak Ramen
  • 2 cups water or enough to boil the noodles
  • 1 each egg yolk for a carbonara vibe
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons milk, cream, or half and half
  • 1 tablespoon butter optional but enhances flavor
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons grated cheese mozzarella or parmesan
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic optional
Toppings
  • to taste green onion
  • to taste sesame seeds
  • 1 each soft boiled egg
  • to taste cooked chicken
  • to taste mushrooms
  • to taste bacon bits

Method

Cooking
  1. Boil water in a small pot. Add noodles and cook until just tender, approximately 4 to 5 minutes.
  2. Before draining, scoop out about 4 to 6 tablespoons of the hot noodle water and set aside.
  3. Drain the noodles, but do not make them bone dry. Return them to the warm pot on low heat.
  4. Add the carbonara powder packet, a little butter, and a splash of milk or cream. Stir until creamy.
  5. Gradually add the spicy sauce packet to taste. Start with half and adjust for heat preference.
  6. Turn off the heat and wait about 20 seconds before quickly stirring in the egg yolk.
  7. If the sauce feels too thick, add reserved noodle water until it becomes silky.
  8. Add cheese, stir, and top with your choice of toppings.

Notes

Tips: Use reserved noodle water for a glossy finish. Adjust spicy sauce to preference. Cheese choice can enhance flavor significantly.
