Cooking
- Boil water in a small pot. Add noodles and cook until just tender, approximately 4 to 5 minutes.
- Before draining, scoop out about 4 to 6 tablespoons of the hot noodle water and set aside.
- Drain the noodles, but do not make them bone dry. Return them to the warm pot on low heat.
- Add the carbonara powder packet, a little butter, and a splash of milk or cream. Stir until creamy.
- Gradually add the spicy sauce packet to taste. Start with half and adjust for heat preference.
- Turn off the heat and wait about 20 seconds before quickly stirring in the egg yolk.
- If the sauce feels too thick, add reserved noodle water until it becomes silky.
- Add cheese, stir, and top with your choice of toppings.
Notes
Tips: Use reserved noodle water for a glossy finish. Adjust spicy sauce to preference. Cheese choice can enhance flavor significantly.
